Designing a new website can be extremely difficult, even if you have some experience or training. Luckily, platforms like WordPress can help you streamline the web design process, especially when you know how to use them.

Setting up a new WordPress website doesn’t have to be too hard if you’re willing to spend a bit of time getting familiar with its design interface and the tools available to you. With this in mind, I decided to put this article together to help you come up with a plan to create your own site.

Step 1: Choose a Hosting Provider

Choosing a web hosting provider is the first thing you need to do when you’re building a WordPress website. There are numerous providers out there – including industry leading names such as HostGator and GoDaddy – but it’s important to do your research to make sure that you find a host that’s suited to your needs and budget.

Step 2: Set Up Your Website

Once you’ve chosen a hosting provider and registered your site, you need to install WordPress to your hosting servers, choose a domain name, and connect it to the WordPress interface. Luckily, most web hosts will guide you through this process, so I won’t go into it in too much detail.

Step 3: Choose a Theme

Next, you will need to find a theme that you can base your site on. Look for a theme that includes as many of the features you need as possible. I’d recommend starting with the WordPress template library, but know that there are numerous third-party theme libraries out there as well.

Step 4: Start Designing!

Now that you’ve chosen your theme, it’s time to get into the exciting part of building your own website – designing its exact appearance. This is where things can get tricky, which means that it’s important to approach your website design with a clear plan of action.

I’d recommend creating a website plan before you even start thinking about using the WordPress editor. I’m actually a big fan of doing things the old-fashioned way – sitting down with a pencil and paper and sketching your rough design.

Once you know what your website should look like and what elements it needs to include, you can start building it. Spend a bit of time getting familiar with the WordPress editing interface, and make sure that you understand exactly what you need to do to build the website you want to.

Designing a new website can be hard, but it certainly doesn’t have to be. There are numerous tutorials available to help you get started with platforms like WordPress, which are actually quite beginner friendly once you get the hang of using them.

I’d recommend starting by choosing your web hosting provider and getting WordPress set up on your servers. Spend a bit of time choosing the right theme for your site, and get familiar with the WordPress editor. Once you’re comfortable and know what you want your site to look like, you can start editing the template you chose.

Good luck, and most importantly, have fun!
