Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre gear up for more business as CentralWorld shopping centre prepares to reopen
"CentralWorld is at the heart of the Ratchaprasong district, the shopping centre of the city,” says Kobchai Chirathivat, president and CEO of Central Pattana Public Company Limited.
"Isetan department store, one of CentralWorld’s anchor tenants, has been open since 24th June. With our refurbishment now nearing completion we anticipate that 90 percent of CentralWorld will be reopened for customers by the end of September, and that Zen department store will be reopened in August next year.”
"Confidence is returning quickly to Bangkok and to the Ratchaprasong district” Kobchai Chirathivat adds.
Ratchaprasong is adjacent to the Siam Square shopping and entertainment district and is home to some of the city’s biggest and most upscale shopping complexes with, in addition to CentralWorld, Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Paragon, the Erawan and Amarin Plaza amongst the mega-malls offering endless shopping at bargain prices.
Easily accessed by the BTS Skytrain, either from the Chidlom or the Siam stations, and with a host of restaurants and entertainment outlets, Ratchaprasong is a major attraction for Thai and international visitors alike, offering as it does every kind of produce, from brand name goods through to arts and crafts and necessary consumer items.
Centara Grand is now planning special food and beverage promotions, spa packages and attractive discounts on rooms to coincide with the CentralWorld reopening, and these will be continuing for the remainder of the year.
"Our hotel and convention centre are already reporting high levels of occupancy and business, and this is going to increase with the reopening of CentralWorld,” says Gerd Steeb, president of Centara Hotels & Resorts. "Ratchaprasong is one of the high points of any tourist’s visit to Bangkok, and CentralWorld is the single largest shopping attraction in the district.”
Other promotions are being undertaken to restore international confidence, including a mass visit by overseas travel buyers and media organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand at Centara Grand at CentralWorld on July 12th.
