Centara Named Best Local Chain For Third Year Running
The announcement was made during the 20th TTG Travel Awards 2009, organised by Mr Darren Ng, managing director of TTG Asia magazine and staged at the World Ballroom of Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld on 8th October, 2009.
"We are very proud to have won this prestigious award for three consecutive years," said Mr Suthikiati Chirathivat, chairman of the executive board of Central Plaza Hotel Plc (Centel). Centara Hotels & Resorts is growing quickly, but we have always been determined that fast growth will not be at the expense of quality.
"Quality is what has led to such a high guest satisfaction for our properties, and ultimately to the strong performance of the brand and the group."
Centara Hotels & Resorts was named as Best Local Hotel Chain in TTG's international awards in 2008 and 2007.
Mr Suthikiati said that Centara operates a mix of properties that are both solely owned and owned by other organisations, and that other owners appreciate the fact that the group has first-hand experience of hotel ownership.
"Owners of hotel properties that we manage and operate for them have confidence in us because we can understand the business from their point of view," he said.
Centara Hotels & Resorts has set a target to manage at least 65 hotels in both local and international markets over the next five years. Mr Suthikiati said that the hotel management service will help expand the network and promote the Centara brand quickly.
We have almost 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and we are in a strong position to help other hoteliers who have been adversely affected by the global economic crisis.
Centara Hotels & Resorts, formerly Central Hotels & Resorts, currently operates 23 hotels and resorts in Thailand, and is in the process this year of opening its first overseas property, in the Maldives.
