Phuket Still Shines for Centara

In the current climate of negative visitor numbers and declining demand for Thailand's resorts, Centara Hotels and Resorts remains upbeat about it's business and in particular Phuket. All 3 Centara Phuket properties are enjoying above industry average occupancy and expect to finish the summer ahead of 2008. in both occupancy and revenue.

Centara has worked very hard on its trade relationship and its electronic distribution and the combination of these factors have resulting in some excellent numbers, Mr.Garret continued.
At this point, we see no reason why the remainder of 2009 will not continue to have the success we have enjoyed So far - although clearly in our continuing efforts we take nothing for granted, he added.

Centara Hotels and Resorts operates 23 luxury hotels and resorts in major tourist destinations throughout Thailand and Asia including Bangkok, Hua Hin, Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, Samui, Chiang Mai, Trat, Hat Yai, Udonthani, Mae Sot, Khonkaen, Maldives and India. Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives and the Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Khonkaen will open in 2009 and the Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket in 2010.

The group's growth strategy aims for expansion to 65 properties within the next five years, both local and international.
