Socceroos play away against the kids of Klong Toey
The young players, still wearing their distinctive red strip supplied by Thailand’s Centara Hotels & Resorts, who sponsor the team under their social responsibilities programme, were then taken to the National Stadium in Bangkok to see the World Cup qualifying round.
Klong Toey is the district centered round the Port of Bangkok and has the largest concentrated population of underprivileged people in the Thai capital.
The Klong Toey Football Club, based at Klong Toey Community Centre, comes under the support of UNOH, a foundation whose objective is to leverage urban neighbourhoods from poverty and help them to discover their strengths and talents and find opportunity to change their lives for the better.
Currently, there are nine UNOH neighbourhood-based teams living and serving Christ amongst the urban poor in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Mae Sot and Bangkok.
Centara Hotels & Resorts is Thailand’s largest operator of hotels, with 38 deluxe and first-class properties covering all the major tourist destinations in the Kingdom. A further 16 resorts in the Maldives, Philippines, Vietnam, Bali Indonesia, Srilanka and Mauritius Indian Ocean, brings the present total to 54 properties.
